What Is Monster Energy?
Monster Energy is an energy drink owned by Living Essentials, a wholly owned subsidiary of Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated. The company was launched in 2002 and has its headquarters in the Stamford Town Center in Connecticut. The founders of the brand are Geoff Griney, a marketing specialist andume Horace Smith who is a sales manager. The name of the brand was inspired by their favorite heavy metal music recordings during their early college days. In 2006, it became the number one selling energy drink in North America. As of 2016, it has been sold in over thirty countries worldwide and generates an annual revenue of approximately $2 billion. There are more than eighteen flavors of Monster Energy drinks. The ingredients include caffeine, taurine, glucuronolactone, l-carnitine, and glucuronolactone.
The brand is popular among the young and hip crowd who are into extreme sports and heavy metal music. It has become a favorite partner of music festivals such as Rock on the Range, Rock am Ring, and the Download Festival. Since its beginning, the brand has created a cult following among fans of heavy metal music.
Its logo resembles the devil horns hand gesture made by heavy metal musicians on stage. In 2009, the brand launched a series of special edition cans in South America with its favorite heavy metal bands such as Soulfly, Slayer, Slipknot, and Pantera. In the same year, it launched another limited edition with the metal bands Anthrax and Lamb of God.
The brand has also been involved in sports events such as the X Games, Moto GP, and Skateboard Park. In 2011, a partnership was established between Monster Energy and NASCAR. It became the title sponsor of many races and several drivers in the sport.
Monster Energy has also been a partner of bands such as Linkin Park, Korn, and Asking Alexandria. They have recently launched a website called Release Ritual that allows users to stream music from their favorite artists.
The brand has also been involved in video games such as Halo 3, Need for Speed: Pro Street, and Tony Hawk: Downhill Jam.
