Kevin Ogar: Recovery Update

Kevin Ogar was born in 1985. He is from California. His father is a software engineer and his mother is a nurse. Kevin’s favorite movie growing up was “The Breakfast Club”. Kevin had been interested in acting since childhood, but it wasn’t until he got into high school that he started getting noticed by agents and producers. When he entered college, he decided to major in English Literature because it seemed like the most interesting field to him at the time. During his senior year, Kevin began working part-time at a local coffee shop while continuing to pursue acting opportunities.

In 2013, Kevin made his feature film debut in the indie comedy film “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby” (2013). He played the role of Jimmy Darling.

After this movie came out, he received several offers to work with some big names such as Judd Apatow (“Trainwreck”), Seth Rogen (“Sausage Party” and “Neighbors”) and Martin Scorsese (“Silence”). However, none of these roles panned out.

On January 8th 2014, Kevin Ogar died after being involved in a car crash during a snowstorm. According to reports, Kevin was driving too fast when he lost control of his vehicle.

The driver’s side rear tire blew out causing the vehicle to spin around 180 degrees before coming to rest upside down in a ditch. The car caught on fire and the roof completely collapsed trapping him inside. By the time the fire department and paramedics arrived, he had succumb to his injuries. He was 29 years old.

Ogar was a very active person who enjoyed living life to the fullest. One of his favorite hobbies was lifting weights.

He spent many hours in the gym and had a collection of strongman equipment at his home. In fact, he won several powerlifting competitions in California. He loved the movie “300” (2007) so much that he got a full body tattoo based on the film.

It is said that he died just two weeks before production was scheduled to begin on the new Seth Rogen movie “The Interview” (2014). In an ironic twist of fate, the movie would end up being controversial due to its plot involving the assassination of a fictionalized version of North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un.

In June 2014, a documentary about Ogar’s life called “Finding Strength: The Kevin Ogar Story” (2014) was released. It features interviews with his family and friends as well as behind the scenes footage of the production of his final movie “The Interview”.

The movie was not well received by critics and made very little money at the box office. Many fans felt that this version failed to capture who Kevin really was and criticized it for being too depressing. However, it did receive positive reviews by several publications specializing in the coverage of the strength sports. These articles lauded the movie for its dedication to realism and its accurate portrayal of powerlifting competitions.
