Sam’s Advice for Aspiring Coaches
I have been very fortunate in the fact that I have been able to travel around and coach my sport for a living. This is something that I never imagined could ever happen and I take each day as it comes but also enjoy the journey that I’ve been on thus far.
If I could give any advice to an aspiring coach out there it would be to really take in everything that you do each day. It’s made up of so many great experiences that you should always remember and cherish them.
Also, I’d say don’t worry too much about the future because your current situation might not be what you expect or want but things will work out if you continue to work hard and put in the effort.
It’s funny how just a few years ago I was just another assistant coach focusing on coming up with the metabolic conditioning portion of practice and now I’m fortunate enough to be an athlete and head coach. Who knows where I’ll be in 5 years but no matter what I’ll always be excited about the next day.
Also, if you see me on the street be sure to come up and say hi. I’d love to chat.
